The bass sound of Melody Nelson

Melody Nelson is from the Serge Gainsbourg album of the same name released in 1971. It is a “concept” album.

This album is a separate part of Gainsbourg’s work, which can be musically similar to L’Homme à Tête de Chou, released five years later. It’s a tribute to the literature and works of Vladimir Nabokov.
Gainsbourg builds this album around a story, and a woman, her muse, Jane Birkin, who succinctly lends her image and her voice to the eponymous character, contenting herself with declining her “name” in Melody.

The bass is played by Dave Richmond on the album.
