Position on bass

Bass position is one of the most important factors when starting out on the instrument. If you make mistakes, it will then be very difficult to make them disappear and they may slow you down during your learning.
In this article, we give you advice on how to position yourself correctly.

Instrument height

The technique I recommend to my students is that the bass be in the same position whether playing standing or sitting to get the same feeling.

Hands position

Left hand : press your finger in the middle of the box.

Thumb behind the handle, perpendicular to the handle, fixed

Right hand : the thumb presses on the microphone, for playing with the finger knuckle up
strum between the bridge and the beginning of the neck.

When you play standing up, you must have your shoulders relaxed so as not to create tension in your upper back and neck area.
