Released in 1994 as the opening track of BBM‘s only studio album, Around the Next Dream, the song reunited two-thirds of Cream—bassist and vocalist Jack Bruce and drummer Ginger Baker—with Irish guitar hero Gary Moore. The initials of their surnames formed the name BBM, creating one of the most intriguing supergroups of the 1990s. The track itself was written by Moore and Bruce, whose songwriting partnership became the creative engine of the album.

The composition of “Waiting in the Wings” grew out of informal writing sessions between Moore and Bruce during the early stages of the Around the Next Dream project.
