It is also the most recognized song by Big Maceo Merriweather, the pianist and singer who originally recorded the song in 1941. The version of The Animals has 94 bpm and was included in the album The Animals On Tour released in March 1965. It is also included on the US release of the album Animal Tracks also in 1965, and on the 1992 reissue of the album The Most Of The Animals in 1971.
Known as being the The Animal’s drummer, John Steel, an English musician and one of the original members of the band, started his music career in 1957 while still attending school. He took piano lessons when he was still a child but trumpet was his first instrument in his first band with Burdon.
