From the album American Idiot, the song Boulevard of Broken Dreams was released on 29 November 2004. It is considered as Green Day’s most successful song in the United States. It peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, and it was the ninth-highest-selling single of the 2000 – 2009 decade with more than 5 million copies sold worldwide. And as of 2020, it is the only song to win both MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year, and the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
The drums were played by Frank Edwin Wright III, best known as Tré Cool. He was a German-born American musician, singer, and songwriter. He took on the name Tré Cool, using the French word trés which means “very”, and the English word “cool”, as a way of saying he’s “very cool”.
